My  Teaching Philosophy

Diversity is a resource, not a deficit—students’ cultural strengths support deeper learning.

Fostering inclusive learning environments

I strive to create a classroom where every student feels safe, respected, and valued. By building positive relationships, encouraging open participation, and addressing bullying or exclusion promptly, I aim to foster a supportive environment where students feel confident to share ideas, take risks, and grow both academically and socially.

Embracing culturally responsive pedagogy

I integrate culturally responsive teaching by connecting learning to students’ cultural backgrounds, experiences, and community knowledge, making lessons more meaningful and engaging. By building respectful classroom relationships, incorporating diverse perspectives, and using collaborative and real-life examples, I aim to support both academic success and cultural competence. I also encourage students to reflect on social issues, appreciate their own identities, and learn to respect the cultures of others, helping them develop critical awareness and empathy (informed by the work of Gloria Ladson-Billings, 1995).

Designing for every learner: differentiation and UDL

Recognizing that each student has unique strengths and needs, I strive to implement differentiation and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. This means I proactively design my instruction, materials, and assessments to be accessible and engaging for all. By offering multiple means of engagement, representation, and action & expression, I ensure that every student can access content, participate meaningfully, and demonstrate their learning in ways that suit them best.

“My passion for teaching is matched only by my unwavering dedication to each student’s journey. I am here to inspire, guide, and empower them to succeed.”
